Truma Recall Urgent!!!!!
We have learnt, via Truma UK, of a possible safety concern regarding its gas filter cups, affecting all items fitted since January 2012. And, if you're wondering where a gas filter cap is, it's sited between the regulator and the gas bottle – please see the image above.
How has this happened? Truma tells us that faulty processing in the supply chain by a sub-supplier means there's the possibility that a material fault has occurred in the windows of the gas filter cup, which could permit gas to escape, via the cylinder box. The worst case scenario is that this could result in injuries and gas deflagration. Truma is, of course, keen to reassure all caravanners that there have been no reports of this happening.
“As a premium manufacturer, Truma stands for absolute quality and reliable products, and the safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority,” says a company statement.
The chances of this fault being found in any caravan is very low, but to ensure nobody suffers any problems, and in line with the above statement, Truma has taken the decision to replace all gas filter cups in the market with a new version. Please note that the rest of the filter body assembly is not affected by this. So, if you own a caravan that is fitted with a Truma gas filter, please do the following:
- Shut down the gas system immediately
- Contact your dealer or Truma and order new filter cups, for free
- Replace old filter cups with new ones
The good news is that you can replace the gas filter cup quickly and easily yourself. First, close the gas supply, then unscrew the old filter cup and simply screw the new filter cup into place.
